Valor Water Analytics is revolutionizing the water utility industry by transforming water utility data into technology solutions.  Water utilities face major financial challenges – including the revenue impacts of conservation and huge infrastructure costs – yet there is very little innovation in the water SaaS arena. Valor is now part of Xylem – a global water technology leader and one of Forbes' top 10 "Change The World" companies.

We are a Y Combinator backed company and winner of the Imagine H2O Water Infrastructure Challenge. The reason: We are the first company to bring these types of analytics to the water sector and we are seeking innovative problem solvers who want to be part of driving the water management revolution.

Valor Water Analytics is a subscription based software as a service product that allows utilities to dig deep into their customer data, identify and solve problems varying from leaky pipes to tampered meters to changing their pricing model that can have a significant impact on their revenue. Our market is huge and growing very fast!  We have several water software solutions that are helping utilities to solve urban water problems right now.

Software Engineer - Back-End

Write code with purpose!  Valor Water Analytics seeks a talented, diligent software engineer to help transform the water utility industry.  Come join our small team of scientists, engineers and economists working collaboratively in a startup-like environment.  Through the deployment of software, data analysis, and artificial intelligence, we have recently begun to solve conundrums that have persisted in the industry for decades.  We expect to scale up our customer base and data lake by 10-100x in the next year.  In addition to contributing to the mission of our company, you will have opportunities for career growth and learning.

Responsibilities include:

* Design new apps, micro services, and backend infrastructure to help achieve company goals

* Expand and improve existing solutions

* Test new code and expand test coverage of existing code

* Troubleshoot complex systems

* Analyze problematic data sets

* Identify performance enhancements and optimize for scale

* Follow latest software engineering techniques and trends

 

Qualifications include:

* Minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience

* Degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field

* Fluent in Python, Ruby, Elixir, or similar

* Experienced in writing database-backed applications including complex SQL queries

* RESTful API service development

* Amazon Web Services

* Unit testing

* Strong written and verbal communication skills

* Strong time management skills

Senior Data Scientist

Valor Water seeks a talented, diligent data scientist to help transform the water utility industry.  Come join our small team of scientists, engineers and economists working collaboratively in a startup-like environment.  Through the deployment of software, data analysis, and artificial intelligence, we have recently begun to solve conundrums that have persisted in the industry for decades.  In addition to contributing to the mission of our company, you will have opportunities for career growth and learning.

As Senior Data Scientist for Valor Water Analytics, you will help scale water efficiency and affordability water software, globally. This is an exciting opportunity to help develop analytical solutions to solve one of the world’s most vexing issues: water scarcity. You'll work closely with engineers, designers, product managers and marketers to help us to analyze and integrate data from millions of water customers around the globe. The ideal candidate enjoys working with cross-functional teams, has built commercialized machine learning products is highly analytical and enjoys solving complex puzzles.
 

Responsibilities include:

* Identify and implement solutions to data-centric problems based on actual or hypothetical data sets

* Lead development of testing and production environments for machine learning / AI products

* Lead development of scalable AI solutions

* Develop data models and algorithms

* Evaluate precision and accuracy of algorithms

* Develop processes to monitor and analyze model/algorithm performance

* Follow latest data science techniques and trends
 

Qualifications include:

* Minimum of 3 years relevant experience building commercialized data science applications

* Degree in data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field

* Python
